Problems with the Roth IRA

There are a number of benefits to the Roth IRA which many of the individual retirement accounts do not have. For instance, individuals can take early distributions without any penalty. However, there are some disadvantages to the Roth IRA that you need to consider when you are comparing it with other IRAs.
One of the major features of the Roth IRA is the fact that your contributions to the account are taxable. The tax free aspect of the Roth IRA does not kick in until the money is waiting in your account and when you withdraw your money. Some people see this as advantageous. However, critics point to the problem of unpredictable tax rates. The Roth IRA will expect you to pay taxes upfront, but tax professionals generally argue that you should delay paying taxes as long as legally allowed.
